Founded during the California Gold Rush of the mid-1800’s, Sonora features historic buildings, museums, theater and several festivals and events throughout the year. These are just a few of the events in the Sonora area this summer:

This yearly celebration features a carnival with rides for everyone from thrill-seekers to toddlers, a livestock section where area school children show off their prize-winning goats and cows, music acts, events like bull riding and a tractor pull and competitions like the Weird Beard contest. Check out the festival website for a more complete listing of events. The 2017 Mother Lode Fair takes place July 7 – 9.
