Directions to McCaffrey House

McCaffrey House: 23251 Highway 108 – Twain Harte, CA 95383

The Inn is located 11 miles east of Sonora and one-half mile above the East Twain Harte exit on Highway 108. Do not turn into the town of Twain Harte) Turn right off of Highway 108 just beyond the 4,000 elevation marker sign. The McCaffrey House is approximately three hours from the Bay Area, four hours from the Monterey Peninsula, and one hour from the Central Valley.

From San Francisco Airport
When you leave the San Francisco Airport, go south to the San Mateo Bridge. You will cross the bridge and head to Highway 880. You will go north for a short distance to Highway 238, which will take you to Highway 580. Follow the signs that take you to Stockton. On 580 you will bypass the towns of Livermore and Tracy. You will be on 580, which becomes 205 and 5. Just remember to follow signs to Stockton and now look for Manteca. You will bypass Manteca by getting onto Highway 120. The signs will now be taking you to Escalon, Oakdale and Sonora. When you get to the end of the Manteca bypass you will be on Highway 99 for a very short distance, in fact the next exit will take you toward Escalon and then onto Oakdale. Continue 120 to Oakdale, turn left at the main light that becomes Highway 108/120 and continue 108 East to Sonora, bypassing Sonora and heading up the mountain to Twain Harte. Stay on Highway 108 until you see the 4,000-foot elevation marker. Slow down, 500 feet past the sign, on your right, you will see our sign. Pull onto our drive – you will see our B&B.

From San Francisco
Leaving San Francisco cross the San Francisco/Oakland Bay Bridge. Follow the signs that lead you toward Highway 580/Stockton. You are following signs to Tracy and Stockton. 580 merges into 205 and I-5. Stay on 205 and follow the signs to Stockton and now look for Manteca. You will bypass Manteca by getting onto Highway 120. The signs will now be taking you to Escalon, Oakdale and Sonora. When you get to the end of the Manteca bypass you will be on Highway 99 for a very short distance, in fact the next exit will take you toward Escalon and then onto Oakdale. Continue 120 to Oakdale, turning left at the main intersection in Oakdale, which becomes Highway 108/120, and continue 108 East to Sonora, bypassing Sonora and heading up the mountain to Twain Harte. Stay on Highway 108 until you see the 4,000-elevation marker. Slow down, 500 feet past the sign you will see our sign. Pull onto our drive – you will see our B&B.

From Sacramento
When leaving Sacramento Airport, take Highway 5 and then Highway 99 toward Stockton. After passing the Stockton exit look for the sign that says Highway 4/Farmington exit. Take that exit and head toward Farmington and Copperopolis. When you come to Copperopolis sign, turn right and head for Highway 108/120. When you come to the highway turn left and head up the hill toward Sonora. Bypass Sonora and continue up the mountain toward Twain Harte. Bypass Twain Harte. When you come to the 4000’ elevation marker slow down. Our sign is 500 feet past the 4000’ marker on the right. Turn onto our road and you will see McCaffrey House Bed & Breakfast.

From Southern California on Highway 99
Coming North on Highway 99 toward Merced. Take the 16th Street exit in Merced. Turn right at the stop sign onto G Street. G Street dead ends at Snelling Road. For your information G Street will take you through lots of grazing land. After about 16 miles on G Street you come to Snelling Road. You will come to a stop sign. Turn right at stop sign onto Highway 59. Travel through Snelling. Turn left onto LaGrange Road which is J59. You are headed toward Highway 108 on J59. Travel about 26 miles past Lake Don Pedro to Highway 108. Turn right on 108. Once you are on Highway 108 you will pass by the towns of Jamestown and Sonora and continue on the Bypass 108. Drive about 10-12 minutes. Soon you will see the 4000’ elevation marker. Slow down and put on your right blinker. Our sign is 500 feet beyond the 4000’ sign. Pull into our drive. You will not see our B&B until you come down our drive. 

From Monterey
From Monterey get onto Highway 1 going north. Take highway 1 to Highway 156 (at Castroville) to Highway 101 North. Then take Highway 156 (Hollister exit) to Highway 152 (Pacheco Pass). Stay on the 156, bypassing Hollister. Turn right onto Pacheco Pass. Exit on Highway 33 to Santa Nella/Gustine. From Gustine take Highway 140 to Merced. From Merced take Highway 59 to Sonora. Highway 59 connects to Highway 108. Turn right on Highway 108 and travel about 25 miles to McCaffrey House, which will be 500’ past the 4,000’ elevation marker on your right.

From Upper Highway 108
Coming from upper Highway 108 head down the mountain passing the towns of Long Barn, Sierra Village, MiWuk, and Sugar Pine. About ¾ of a mile past Sugar Pine you will pass Confidence. There are a couple of turns after Confidence. After the final turn you will see building lights on the left. Turn on your left blinkers. Turn left into the next drive, which will bring you to McCaffrey House. If you get to the Twain Harte exits you have gone too far. Should this happen make a U-turn and come back up the mountain. Our sign and driveway coming up the mountain are 500’ past the 4-000’ elevation marker.

From 580 / 680
From the 580/680 Interchange take Highway 580 toward Stockton. On 580 you will bypass the towns of Livermore and Tracy. You will be on 580 which becomes 205 and 5. Stay on 205 and follow the signs to Stockton and now look for Manteca. You will bypass Manteca by getting onto Highway 120. The signs will now be taking you to Escalon, Oakdale and Sonora, (Sonora being the big City). When you get to the end of the Manteca bypass you will be on Highway 99 for a very short distance, in fact the next exit will take you toward Escalon and then onto Oakdale. Continue 120 to Oakdale, which becomes Highway 108/120, turn left at the main intersection in Oakdale and continue 108 East to Sonora, bypassing Sonora and heading up the mountain to Twain Harte. Stay on Highway 108 until you see the 4,000’ elevation marker. Slow down, 500 feet past the sign you will see our sign. Pull onto our drive – you will see our B&B.

We stayed at The McCaffrey’s for 2 nights during our honeymoon road trip, we had a large room with a lovely comfy bed overlooking the big pine trees.
