While McCaffrey House is in the forest, you can still get away to the city! Spend a night on the town enjoying some great theater at the local Sonora Playhouses.
Sierra Repertory Theatre is one theater company with two locations. The first is their modern East Sonora Theater, with 202 seats, excellent sight lines, and outstanding acoustics. Their second location is the historic Fallon House Theatre in Columbia State Historic Park. This 120 year-old theater seats 274 between the main floor and the balcony.
Sierra Rep presents eight main stage shows during their year-round seasons. Audiences love their high-quality productions. Past shows have included well-known musicals as well as beloved classics.
Performances are generally Wednesday through Sunday at 2 PM and Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7 PM (check the website for exact performance dates and times). Visiting Sierra Rep is a great way to support talented artists and enjoy a great show!
Stage 3 Theatre Company is a community theater in historic downtown Sonora. With six shows and several special events each year, there’s always a great show to see. Their comedies, dramas, and musicals feature local and regional actors.
The black box style theater has just 85 seats. In this intimate setting, there’s no such thing as a bad seat! Before the show, enjoy a glass of wine and live music in their Great Room lobby.
Purchase tickets from the box office (open Tuesday through Thursday, 11 AM to 4 PM, as well as one hour before showtime) or on their website. Showtimes are generally Thursday through Saturday evenings, with matinees on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
