October has been one of the wettest months on record for parts of the Sierra Nevada mountains, and Dodge Ridge Ski Resort has gotten plenty of powder already.
When the ski season opens, why not kick off the winter season with a trip up to Dodge Ridge? Enjoy the slopes, and spend cozy evenings at McCaffrey House here in Twain Harte near Sonora, CA.
Dodge Ridge, which first opened in 1950, will fill your days with adventure. The resort offers public and private skiing and snowboarding lessons for children (ages 2 and up) and adults of all skill levels. They even offer adaptive lessons for those who have physical disabilities but still want to play in the snow. The resort has 67 runs for skiers of all abilities to enjoy.
Don’t like to go fast? With 852 acres, the resort has trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing enthusiasts.
Take a break off the slopes at one of the resort’s excellent restaurants. The Creekside Cafe offers breakfast burritos, pancakes, soups, sandwiches and burgers. Sample paninis, pastry, hot chocolate or wine at the North Fork Bistro. Or load up on barbecue at the Local’s Cafe.
And of course, at the end of the day, retreat to McCaffrey House Bed & Breakfast in the nearby resort town of Twain Harte. The little town is full of cute shops, parks, and in the winter, ice skating at the Long Barn.
At McCaffrey House Bed & Breakfast Inn, we hold a happy hour each evening with wine and cheese, and serves a full breakfast at 9 a.m. each morning (we offer early breakfast for skiers). Meals are made with local ingredients whenever possible. We’re eco-friendly; coming up in an electric car? We have a charging station. Sore from too much fun on the slopes? We offer massages, though we recommend scheduling them before you head out to ski!
So when Dodge Ridge opens for the season, book and room with us and prepare for a skiing vacation to remember.
