Riding the train at Railtown 1897 State Historic Park: Have a relaxing afternoon while enjoying the rolling foothills of the Sierra from a historic train. In the spring, the windows are down and there are open-air passenger cars so you can admire the colorful wildflowers covering the hillsides.

Nature Photography: There are beautiful natural wonders around every corner in Tuolumne County! Bring your camera or sign up for one of Y Explore’s photography workshops to learn how to capture the stunning scenery.

Bird Watching: Tuolumne County is home to amazing bird watching, especially at Red Hills Recreation Management Area! There are over 88 varieties on birds at Red Hills, so bring your binoculars! Road runners have even been known to be spotted!

Gold Panning: Try your luck gold panning in Columbia State Historic Park! The Matelot Gulch Mining Co staff will teach you how to pan for gold and gems just like the 49ers!
