After a day of hiking Yosemite Valley or the Calaveras Big Trees, you deserve a day off to restore. Luckily, the McCaffrey House is near to many award-winning and scenic vineyards. Some of our favorites include the following:
La Bella Rosa – This winery is perfect if you love Italian-style wines. Even if you aren’t normally a champagne drinker, their almond champagne may convert you. Plus, as you can see in this video, this vineyard is absolutely breathtaking!
Inner Sanctum Cellars – Enjoy a $5 tasting inside the modern tasting room while chatting with the friendly owners, or head out back to their lovely patio with a glass of your favorite wine. We hear the tempranillo and the sparkling wines are top picks.
Gianelli Vineyards – The story of this vineyard stems back generations to the late 1800’s. You can taste many rare old world varieties of grapes reminiscent of Italy itself. In fact, some of their wines are only produced in Italy and at this vineyard! In addition to the vineyard, you can visit the tasting room in Jamestown after gold panning.
Hurst Ranch Supply – Yes, this depot sells farm supplies, but it’s also the perfect stop for wine tasting. We recommend picking up local coffee, olive oil, and honey for gifts as well. You may recognize the building. It’s the railroad station from the Clint Eastwood movie “The Unforgiven”!
After a day of relaxing at some of California’s finest wineries, you’ll be set for another day of adventures. You can see more of the great activities near McGaffrey House here.
